Why we're moving away from Substack
Join us at our new home
Have you ever stayed somewhere knowing in your bones it wasn’t quite the right fit anymore, but waiting for a sign that the time has come to move on?
That’s how we’ve felt about Substack for a while now. We’ve loved the community of thoughtful people, respectful dialogue, and the ability to lift up each other’s voices. And, we’ve had concerns about how Substack’s owners genuinely value and care for the community and what their long-term intentions are for the creative investment we all make here.
With the arrival last week of Andrew Tate on Substack — and what hosting him and his one million followers signals for the wider community — we’ve decided it’s time to start moving. We can’t invite you to break free of the ‘good girl’ rules - or ‘strong boy’ expectations - you’ve been carrying for years, then ask to spend time with us in a space that chooses to profit from a very loud version of them.
The thing is, this isn’t really about one person. It’s about what a platform is willing to host, promote and profit from — and what those choices say about who it values, and who may be harmed along the way.
From today we’re starting to shift our work off Substack and over the next couple of months onto a home of our own. With more than 150 resources to rehouse for you this will take the next three months for our small team to pull off.
Here’s what this means for you:
Join our mailing list: If you’ve not already subscribed for free to our Substack we don’t have an email address to stay in touch with you easily. You can fix that right now by subscribing below:
Find us in your inbox: From 1st May, our newsletter will only be arriving in your inbox (not through the Substack app). A small favor — when our first email arrives, please add us to your contacts (or mark us as a known sender) so we land in your primary inbox to make it easy to continue receiving the free podcast and tools.
Bookmark our new home: Our new website will be at www.thegoodgirlgamechangers.com. Right now this will still pop up as Substack but as we move more of the resources over to our own servers all Substack connections will disappear.
We’ll still drop by: We’ll still pop up here on Substack from time to time. You might see us sharing notes or staying connected with the wonderful folk we’ve met on this platform — but this won’t be where we invite you to explore and experiment with our core content anymore.
However you choose to keep breaking free with us, we’re glad you’re here.
Warm wishes,
Chelle & Evie
Please note: We are mindful that ‘girl’, ‘woman’, ‘boy’ and ‘man’ are socially constructed ideas of gender that can fall painfully short of defining the fabulous complexity of who we each are. If these words resonate with part of how you have previously or currently identified yourself, we’d love to hear about your lived experiences.
